Ethics and Privacy

Recruitment is an industry sector in which the maintenance of ethical standards and privacy are absolutely essential. 

Gough are proud of the high standard of professional ethics which we have maintained over the years and are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and candidates. We have formalised a Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy which govern how we handle personal information and safeguard privacy.

Our Collection Statement sets out our practices relating to the collection, storage, security and use of your personal information in compliance with the Privacy Act 2010.

Collection Statement

The National Privacy Principles (NPP) are extracted from the Privacy Act 2010 and set out how businesses may collect, use, store and disclose personal information. This Collection Statement describes how personal information will be treated by Gough Recruitment in line with current legislation.

Personal information is any information or an opinion (whether true or not) about you and may range from the very sensitive (e.g. medical history) to the everyday (e.g. address, phone number). It may include the opinions of others about your work performance (whether true or not), your work experience and qualifications, aptitude test results and other information obtained by Gough Recruitment in connection with your employment. Personal information may also include: 

 

  • Membership of a professional or trade association
  • Criminal record
  • Health or disability
  • Provision of health services
  • Sexual preferences or practices
  • Political opinion or association
  • Racial or ethnic origin

Personal and sensitive information will be collected from you directly when you provide us with your Resume and/or Employment Registration form. Personal and sensitive information will also be collected when:

 

  • We receive any reference about you
  • We receive the results of any competency or medical test
  • We receive results of inquiries that we might make of your former employers, work colleagues, professional associations or registration body
  • We receive any information about a workplace accident in which you were involved
  • You provide us with any additional information about you
  • We receive performance feedback (whether positive or negative)
  • We receive any information about any insurance investigation, litigation, registration or professional disciplinary matter, criminal matter, inquest or inquiry in which you were involved
  • We receive any complaint from or about you in the workplace

Your personal and sensitive information may be used in connection with:

 

  • Your actual or possible work placement
  • Any insurance claim or proposal that requires disclosure of your personal or sensitive information.
  • Our assessment of your ongoing performance and prospects
  • Any test or assessment, including medical tests, psychological and assessments(s) that you might be required to undergo
  • Our management of any complaint, investigation or inquiry in which you are involved

Your personal and sensitive information may be disclosed to:

 

  • Our potential and actual employers and clients
  • Referees
  • Our insurers
  •  Other staff members of the Gough Recruitment
  • Any person with a lawful entitlement to obtain the information.

If you do not complete and sign this Collection Statement and Consent Form:

 

  • We may not be able to proceed with your application for a position through the Gough Recruitment.
  • We will destroy your Resume and/or Employment Registration, as we will assume that you do not wish to proceed.
  • We may be limited in our ability to locate suitable work or to place you in work.

6.

You can gain access to your information to correct it if it is wrong:

 

  • Subject to some exceptions, which are set out in the National Privacy Principles, you have a right to see and have a copy of personal and sensitive information about you that we hold.
  • If you wish to exercise your rights of access and correction you should contact us to arrange a time to view the information.
  • In some cases we may impose a moderate charge for providing access to personal or sensitive information.

7. 

With your permission we will hold your information for 3 years from the date of receipt.

We may contact you in the future regarding new positions available, for direct marketing of products or services, and to keep you informed of new developments we believe may be of interest to you
